Funeral services for 9-months and 13-days old Akicita Rogers, originally scheduled for Sunday, Dec 18, 2022 will now be Monday, December 19, 2022 at 1:00.
Services will still be at the T&T Center in Wanblee, SD, with traditional Lakota services by Chris Grillo, Richard Moves Camp, and Calvin Red Elk with the Eagle Nest Singers the Drum Group.
Burial is at the Wanblee Presbyterian Cemetery
A two-night wake service will begin a day later than originally set and starts Saturday, Dec 17, at 4:00 at the T&T Center in Wanblee.
Akicita Zuya Rogers “Our Baby Akeech” was born on February 24, 2022, to Clayton Dale Red Elk and Deonna Larae Rogers in Rapid City, SD. Akicita made his journey to the Spirit World on December 7, 2022, at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
Akicita is survived by his mother Deonna Rogers; father Clayton Red Elk; siblings Danaisa Rogers, and Ohitika Red Elk; grandparents Mavis Wilcox, Beverly Red Elk, and Jewel Rogers; aunts Kayla (Byron Shot With Arrow) Thomas, Jeanine (Moses) Weaver of Okinawa, Japan, Rita (Kacey Cummings) Rogers, Andrea Rogers, Darchelle Rogers, Hope (Brent) LaMont, Julie (Stacy) Chipps, Dorothy, Tanya, Nicole, Latisha, Justice, Kansas, Candace, Courtney, Tate Win, and Sundance Chipps; uncles Sylvester (Waysha) Thomas, Norman (Jasinda) Rogers III, Kayson LaMont, Benjamin Chipps Jr, Opijata, Hoksila, and Zaptan Chipps/Red Elk; and great-grandparents Ernest Red Elk, Annie Red Elk, Lena Chipps, Norman (Eunice) Rogers Sr, Betty (Abel) Red Bird, and Marlys Robertson.
