The Chadron State College Community Band and Community Chorus both begin their spring seasons this week, preparing for concerts in mid-April.
The first band rehearsal is tonight from 7-8:30 in Memorial Hall while the chorus has its first on Thursday evening, also from 7-8:30 in Memorial Hall.
The Community Chorus will join the college choir in concert Saturday, April 15, at 3:00 in Memorial Hall that features a collaboration with the CSC Concert Choir on a Mass by Steve Dobrogosz.
The Community Band will pair up with the CSC Wind Symphony for a concert on Tuesday, April 18, at 7 p.m also. in Memorial Hall’s Auditorium.
CSC Director of Bands Dr John Wojik and Director of Vocal Music Joel Schreuder led the two groups and both emphasize their groups are open to all ages and pretty much all levels of experience from all around the region.
Over the past decade, members of the Community Band have ranged in age from junior high to their 70s while the Community Chorus has had singers from high school nearly 80.
A majority of members of both groups are college students, many of them not music majors, but community members from Chadron and beyond who want to continue or resume playing or singing are invited to join.    Â
Both Schreuder and Wojik ask that anyone who wants to participate but can’t make their respective first rehearsal to email them – jschreuder@csc.edu or jwojcik@csc.edu
