Nebraska 3rd District Republican Congressman Adrian Smith fell short in his bid to become chairman of the tax-and-budget writing House Ways and Means Committee.
Smith clearly holds no bitterness, sending out congratulations to the winner, Missouri Congressman Jason Smith and saying Jason’s success in leading the panel will mean success for all House Republicans and, “even more importantly – for the American people.”
Adrian also thanked his fellow Republicans who supported him “every step of this race” – adding he’s “humbled by their support and trust and more determined than ever to make them proud.”
Smith also said no member can effectively serve without the support of their families and that he can’t thank his family enough, especially his wife Andrea, for their support and sacrifice every single day.
A 9-term representative who chaired a Ways and Means subcommittee the last time the GOP was in a majority, Smith concluded by writing “leaving a better America for future generations is why I do this work.”
