The Outriders, the group that founded and for 3 decades ran Ride the Ridge, announced last year that it was heading off into the sunset but last week made two presentations that should ensure it’s not forgotten.
The group presented 4×8-foot signs to Fort Robinson State Park and the Dawes County Fair Board thanking both for their long support.
Outriders spokesman Don Huls says the signs offer a photoshopped view of a typical Ride the Ridge scene.
Fort Robinson has been the unofficial home of Ride the Ridge for the past 2 decades while the Fairgrounds was the ending point of the first Ride and of the 2010 Ride that helped celebrate Chadron’s 125th Birthday.
Huls says the park and the Fairboard provided support in many other ways, leading the Outriders to turn to the expertise of LA Signs for a lasting gift and reminder.
Although the Outriders have ended their involvement with Ride the Ridge, the future of the event is bright because it’s now under the direction of the Crawford Old West Trail Rodeo organization and will be back again this June.
