The Sioux County Warriors went 1-3 in action last week, picking up a win over Creek Valley but losing to Arthur County and Hemingford.
The Warriors’ win over Creek Valley was a 59-48 showing in which the Warriors scored in double digits in three quarters. The teams traded buckets in the opening quarter, with Sioux County inching out to a 16-14 advantage. The Warriors used a 19-8 run in the second to lead 35-22 at half-time. Creek Valley cut into the Warriors’ lead with a 14-7 run in the third, but Sioux County held off their come-back attempt with a 17-12 fourth quarter.
The Warriors were led by Colton Randall with 14 points. Jack Hunter contributed 12, and William Skavdahl had 10. Shane Gluth added nine, Cy Hughson eight and Logan Monroe six.
Arthur County jumped out to a 26-10 lead after one quarter in its 64-28 victory over Sioux County. The Warriors were held to single digits in the remaining three periods. Skavdahl led Sioux County with 11 points, followed by Gluth with eight, and Hughson with six. Monroe added two and Hunter had a single free throw.
Hemingford also held the Warriors to single digits in three quarters enroute to a 67-33 win Saturday. The Bobcats earned a 19-5 advantage after one quarter. The Warriors netted 12 in the second period to cut into the Bobcat lead, but they still trailed 35-17 at the break. Hemingford outscored Sioux County 32-16 in the second half.
Gluth led Sioux County with 10 points, followed by Hughson with nine. Randall had five, Hunter four, Monroe three and Skavdahl two.
Sioux County is now 3-8 on the year.
