A man from upstate New York has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to attempted enticement of a minor using the internet in a sex sting during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally
29-year-old Christopher Dahl was originally indicted for attempted commercial sex trafficking of a minor as well, but that charge was dropped in a plea agreement.
Dahl was arrested as part of an undercover sex trafficking operation conducted during the 2021 Rally after sending multiple text messages to what he thought was a 14-year old girl but was actually an undercover agent.
He offered to pay the “girl” $250 to have sex with him and was arrested when he went to the per-determined location to meet the “girl” but was greeted instead by police.
Multiple law enforcement agencies have joined together during the Rally for several years to conduct similar sting operations.
