The Wyoming Highway Patrol says 2 Wyoming brothers, part of a set of triplets, were killed Thursday afternoon in a one-vehicle rollover accident on Interstate 25 about 5 miles south of Chugwater.
44-year-old Daniel and David Parkin were wearing seatbelts, but died at the scene of the accident.
The Highway Patrol’s crash summary says Daniel Parkin was driving about 3:45 pm when their northbound pickup drifted into the median, hit the side of an unpaved freeway crossover, and went airborne.
The Patrol says the pickup landed on its top and slid before coming to a rest in the median.
Conditions were clear and the pavement was dry, so drive fatigue and medication use are being investigated as possible contributing factors.
Donny Parkin, the surviving triplet, posted on Facebook two days later that “life can really suck at times like this, but we just have to plow through it the best that we can.”
The Parkin brothers are the 18th and 19th traffic fatalities in Wyoming so far this year, continuing an up-and-down pattern. There were 17 deaths by this time in 2019, just 5 the next year, 14 in 2021, and only 5 last year.
