The EPA says Nebraska is getting nearly $11.9-million dollars as its share of the second wave of funding from the federal Infrastructure bill through the Clean Water State Revolving fund.
The money, part of $2.4-billion released nationwide, will help Nebraska communities upgrade essential water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure that protects public health and treasured water bodies.
Nearly half of this funding will be available as grants or principal forgiveness loans to assist underserved communities across America invest in water infrastructure while creating good-paying jobs.
EPA Region 7 Administrator Meghan McColliser says the money will be used to update aging water systems and will allow communities across Nebraska to address the water infrastructure vulnerabilities to the effects of climate change.
McCollister says the state’s investments through the revolving fund will increase access to clean water and protect water resources for the future while helping to keep utility rates affordable for Nebraskans.”
The first $1.9-billion dollar wave of Clean Water funding through the infrastructure bill came in May of last year.
