Tuesday Is Election Day For Hot Springs School Board, City Council

     Tomorrow is Election Day in Hot Springs for city council and school board positions with the polls open from 7:00 to 7:00 at the Mueller Center.

      There are 2 Hot Springs City Council seats up for election, but Travis Orback is unopposed in Ward 2, where incumbent Davis Burris chose not to run for reflection.

     In Ward 1, incumbent Craig Romey faces challenger Hal Glanville. The 67-year old Romey grew up on the Pine Ridge Reservation and moved to Hot Springs for 8th grade. A veteran, he’s served on the city council for 8 years.

      Glanville is 74 and came to Hot Springs 8 years ago. He’s been active in community issues the past 6 years and told the Fall River County Herald-Star that his involvement, in his words, “at times has been to the dismay of a few city officials. 

    Incumbent Katie Burchfield faces 3 challengers: Darcy Engel, Guy Prescott, and David Stewart. All 4 candidates are relatively new to the district, ranging from 9 years for Engel and 3 for Stewart.

    The 49-year old Burchfield has been on the school board for 2 years and is the assistant director of a non-profit organization while Burchfield is 42 and a service representative.

     Both the 68-year old Pritchard and the 50-year old Stewart are retired, although Stewart still works as a substitute teacher.
