The Wyoming Dept of Corrections says a woman serving 4-to-8 years in prison for trying to stab her boyfriend in the heart has died at the medium security prison in Torrington.
54-year old Tana Kimber of Gillette died Thursday and, under department policy, an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
Kimber was convicted last year in Campbell County of aggravated assault and battery causing injury. She was sentenced last November to 4 to 8 years in prison.
The Gillette News Record says Kimber was arrested in March 2019 after trying to stab her boyfriend with a pocketknife.
The man was able to deflect the knife with his thumb and take it away from her, suffering a 1-inch cut in the process. He told police the blade would have hit his heart if he’d deflected it.
He also told police while kimber was cooking breakfast she said she was going to burn him and threw hot cooking oil at him, but she missed and the oil landed harmlessly on the floor.
