Two Denver-area women are in custody on drug charges following their arrest Wednesday afternoon in front of the Dawes County Courthouse in Chadron.
25-year old Lauren Armstrong and 23-year old Amanda Koger are each charged with felony Possession of Methamphetamine and a drug paraphernalia infraction.
Armstrong also facing a count of Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl.
After authorities received a citizen’s tip about 2:00 pm of two women acting suspiciously inside a vehicle parked in front of the courthouse, Chadron Police Lt Gabe Walz contacted Armstrong and Koger.
Lt Walz says that as they talked, the behavior of both women led him to ask Armstrong, the passenger, for permission to look in her purse.
She consented and he quickly located a partially-smoke blue pill that he suspected to be Fentanyl, based on his training and experience.
The discovery of the suspected illegal narcotics in Armstrong’s person led to a search of the entire vehicle by Chadron Police Sgt Chelsey Stolley and Officer Christine Hanson.
They found and seized another 322 suspected Fentanyl pill, about 8-grams of methamphetamine, $394 in cash, and numerous items of drug paraphernalia.
At that point, both Armstrong and Koger were arrested and taken the short distance to the Dawes County Jail to be booked. Bail for each was set at 10% of $50,000.
Lt Walz says the case is a great reminder to everyone that when you see something suspicious, call local law enforcement to take a look into it.
He adds that the Chadron Police Department wants to thank the public for its continued support and for all the information and tips that come in.
Thanks PD! Good job.
Chadron radio, please proofread your articles a little better. Several times, you used the name Anderson instead of Armstrong. Also, you said 10$ instead of 10%. It takes just a minute to double check an article before printing it.
Great point, Carol! This isn’t exactly the story of the century requiring Chadron Radio to have it out to the masses before the Associated Press prints it. Take pride in your work and present a final product worth reading!
These chicks make police work easy! It’s not every day that people are arrested in front of the jail.
Biden’s open border policy’s are part of the problem. Street drugs flooding the market. Crime is escalating.
