Drought and dry conditions in South Dakota are improving thanks to recent rainfall and cooler temperatures.
The latest U-S Drought Monitor report shows only about 25% of South Dakota remains under any degree of drought conditions. Just three weeks ago, around 75% of the state was in drought
The dry conditions are concentrated in southeastern and eastern South Dakota with a small pocket of Charles Mix County in extreme drought.
Drought conditions are widespread in Nebraska, but not in the western-most parts of the state. The National Weather Service Office in Cheyenne says its service area is now drought-free.
