The SWANN – Solid Waste Agency of Northwest Nebraska – landfill northwest of Chadron is closed today because it’s too wet.
Operations Director Jake Stewart says the landfill received 2” of rain last night, leaving the cell, road, and other areas too wet for normal operations – which could do significant damage.
Stewart says the landfill should reopen tomorrow, but cautions the decision depends on whether or how much additional rain it receives today and tonight.
