The Sioux County Fair in Harrison and the Fall River County Fair in Edgemont wrap up today, but with a very light schedule in Edgemont.

All the Fall River County Fair has left is Buckling the Bull at the Grandstand. It starts at 4:30 with a free cookout, followed by Cowboy Church at 5:00 and Bull Riding at 6:00 Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students. Those under 6 are free.

The Sioux County Fair, on the other hand, has 2 big events and the last day of exhibits at Art Hall, which is open from 1-3:00, when the exhibits will be released.

The first of the big events is the second day of the Rodeo at 1:00. The Rodeo lineup includes 300-yard youth horse races for riders 12-and-under and Kids Dummy Roping with 2 age groups, 8-and-under and 9-to-13.

Concluding the Sioux County Fair is the Demolition Derby with driver check-in at 4:00 and the start of racing at 6:30 with $1,000 added money for the purse.

The Oglala Nation Wacipi, Rodeo, and Fair wraps up today in Pine Ridge but with a lot more activities than originally scheduled because stormy weather yesterday canceled and postponed a lot – including the Wacipi Grand Entries.

As a result, today’s Grand Entry is at 11:00 with contests and specials run throughout the day, including the Oliver Red Cloud Family 49 Drum Contest.

The Bizzy Bone and friends Concert scheduled for yesterday was also postponed and is now today with the music beginning at 4:30 at the Pine Ridge High School Football Field.

New Oglala Lakota Nation Royalty were also scheduled to be selected yesterday with Miss Oglala Nation Katie New Holy, Junior Miss Suraya Kelly, and Lil’ Miss Jayla Swallow giving up their crowns.

Honoring specials are planned with both Key and Swallow with all ambulance personnel being honored during the Grand Entry.
