The Chadron High softball team put together a 2-2 start to the season and finished 6th at the Lexington Invite on Saturday.
Chadron used a 16-run 2nd inning to overcome a 5-1 1st inning deficit to defeat Southern Valley/Alma in the season opener 17-5 on Friday. Sarah LaBere and Aubrey Milburn both went 2-for-3 at the plate with 3 RBI’s.
 At Saturday’s Lexington Invite, the Cards started off with a 12-0 loss to Class B preseason Top 10 Bennington, being outhit by the Badgers 12-3.
In the consolation semifinals, Chadron shutout the host Lexington squad 9-0 in 4-innings behind 2-for 2 performances by Kenli Richardson and Cali Hendrickson and a homerun from Maci Rutledge.
Gothenburg exploded for 9 runs in the top of the 2nd inning on their way to a 12-5 win over Chadron in the consolation finals. The Swedes were up 12-1 through 2.5 before the Cardinals rallied for 4 runs in the bottom of the 4th to close the gap. Gothenburg only outhit Chadron 11-9.
