A Wyoming man is in custody in the Dawes County Jail following a pursuit Monday night that began in South Dakota and ended in Nebraska.

31-year old Gerald Hobbs of Cheyenne is charged with flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, possession of a controlled substance, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia, and multiple traffic violations.

Nebraska State Patrol spokesman Cody Thomas says the agency was told about 8:40 pm that Fall River County Sheriff’s deputies were in pursuit of a motorcycle headed toward Nebraska on Hwy 385.

A trooper responded to the near the state line and clocked the bike at 98 mph, but the rider, later identified as Hobbs, refused to stop and instead sped up to more than 100 mph.

The trooper gave chase toward Chadron, but after reaching Hwy 20, Hobbs left the road and continued into a field – turning west when he reached a fence line.

The trooper was able to get ahead of the bike and Hobbs stopped after reaching the officer and was taken into custody. A search of his backpack revealed drugs, a concealed weapon, and drug paraphernalia.
