Faith E.(Bond) Coleman was born on January 10, 1951, in Springfield, Ohio, to her parents, Louis H. Bond and Helen L. (Pinkerton) Bond. Faith went home to be with her Heavenly Father on August 29, 2023.
Faith attended school in the Northwestern school district, graduating in the spring of 1969. After graduation, she traveled to Haviland, KS, where she studied at Friends Bible College (now Barclay), earning her degree in Bible with a minor in Christian Education and receiving her diploma in Spring of 1973.
While at FBC, Faith met Steve Coleman from Hay Springs, NE. They married on Oct. 22, 1972, at Hesper Friends Church in Eudora, KS.After Faith’s graduation from FBC, the couple moved to Hay Springs, where Steve and his older brother Bill worked to continue the family potato farm.
During this time, Faith became active in teaching Good News Club and played the organ at New Hope Friends Church.
In January 1974, Faith and Steve moved to Emporia, where he began a job with Sauder Industries while Faith went back to school at Emporia State Teachers College to earn her teaching certificate. In 1976, she finished a Masters of Science in Education with an emphasis in reading.
Faith then worked as a teacher’s aide for USD #253 until she was blessed with a son, Stephen L. Coleman, on July 31, 1980. She went back to work after Stephen’s, this time as the assistant manager of Logo’s Bookstore, where she remained for five years.
Caring for family then took priority as she jointly cared for one grandmother, four parents, and Stephen. Faith returned to work in the fall of 2000 as an aide at Village Elementary School, where she remained until declining health in forced her to stop in 2008.
She continued to be a Sunday School teacher, a role she had embraced wherever she had been since she was a teenager, but in 2014 after 40 years of teaching various age groups between public schools and church environments, she retired.
In her final years, she led various small group Bible studies and met one-on-one to disciple and encourage other Christians.
Over the years, she enjoyed playing the piano and organ in church and for nursing home visits. Faith taught herself to cross-stitch and crochet and invested numerous hours into gifts and projects for friends and family.
Faith was a well versed Sunday school teacher who, along with a with the support of a wonderful church family, helped me raise my son into the fine young man of God he is today. Faith was a dear friend and Bible study leader. She was loved and appreciated. She will be missed. Keeping the Coleman Family in my prayers.
Sincerely,
Bobbi Hudson
Steve,
Saw where your precious wife, Faith passed! So sorry to hear about that. Doubt you remember me but we both attended Sandridge. Often wondered what happened to your whole family! Take care of yourself!
