Troopers Uninjured After Patrol Units Struck Near Big Springs Saturday

     Three Nebraska State Patrol troopers escaped injury Saturday afternoon when their cruisers were hit by a car while parked along Interstate 80 near Big Springs.

      Patrol spokesman Cody Thomas says the 3 units had responded to a report of two people arguing on the shoulder of the freeway. 

      The troopers found a man and woman, who had been traveling together, engaged in a verbal confrontation on the shoulder. 

       As the troopers addressed the situation, an oncoming car drove onto the shoulder and struck one of the cruisers, pushing it forward into the other two. 

      All 3 vehicles were vacant at the time and the troopers immediately rushed to help the driver of the car, was transported to Ogallala Community Hospital by the Ogallala Fire Department with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. 

    . No troopers were injured and the Keith County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation of the crash.
