Gering apparently won both championships at the Chadron State College High School Cross Country Meet on Friday.
The word apparently is used because there was at least one top 10 finisher who is not on the girls’ results. However, it is believed that the Gering girls finished with 32 points while both Sidney and Chadron tallied 38, but Sidney’s No. 5 runner finished ahead of the Cardinals’ No. 5.
Gordon-Rushville and Scottsbluff also had full teams in the girls’ competition.
In the boys’ action, Gering runners placed first, second, fourth and seventh to finish with 14 points. Alliance was next with 25, followed by Sidney, 67; Rapid City Christian, 83; Chadron, 103; Wheatland, Wyo., 104; Scottsbluff, which entered its junior varsity, 124; and Gordon-Rushville, 133.
