The Chadron School Board has awarded a nearly $10,000 contract to Fire and Ice Mechanical of Chadron to replace the rooftop air conditioning that serves the high school kitchen.
The $9,695 contract covers both the cost and installation of a new 3-phase, 3-ton unit from Carrier that has low ambient controls, a digital thermostat, and hail guards.
Superintendent Ginger Meyer says the current rooftop unit, which has failed, is more than 20 years old and needs a new compressor that makes repairs more expensive than replacement.
Replacement of a 3 ton compressor in an existing rooftop HVAC unit would be more than $9,695. How many quotes were received on this project?
