Sioux County improved to 3-0 with a victory in a low-scoring 20-12 game Sept. 8 at home.
The Warriors defeated Wauneta-Palisade with 264 total yards of offense, and two Warriors broke 100 yards.
Jack Hunter rushed for 128 yards and scored the first touchdown of the game during the first quarter to give Sioux County an early edge. Wauneta-Palisade responded in the second quarter with a 14-yard passing touchdown from Nathan Blackman to Aden Acton to make it 8-6.
The Warriors’ Cy Hughson connected with William Skavdahl on a nine-yard pass in the third quarter to expand their lead 14-6. Hughson passed for 135 yards in the contest and scrambled in for a final fourth quarter touchdown from one yard out. Blackman completed a pass to Blake Nickerson later in the fourth to make it 20-12.
Sioux County had six tackles for loss in the game, including three by Skavdahl. Shane Gluth also got in on the defensive stats with a fumble recovery.
