A Broc Berry to Gage Wild 75-yard touchdown pass opened the scoring and Chadron knocked off Gothenburg 28-20 on homecoming night at Cardinal Field.
After a scoreless first quarter, the touchdown pass was the only points of the first half for the 7-0 Cardinal lead.
A pair of Quinn Bailey rushing touchdowns in the 3rd quarter pushed the lead out to 21-6 heading to the 4th. The Swedes would rebound with their own two touchdowns in the 4th, but Bailey slammed the door shut with his third score of the night with just under :30 seconds left in the game.
Wild’s touchdown catch was the Dunbar U Design It play of the game and also helped him earn Service Barber Shop player of the game honors.
Chadron now stands at 4-1 on the season and will travel to Sidney next Friday in a huge district showdown.
