The South Dakota Highway Patrol has released the names from a fatal collision between two semis last Tuesday afternoon 5 miles north of Parmalee.
Killed was 51-year old Peter Ferguson of Norris, SD, while 82-year old Richard Bauer of Kilgore, NE, was not injured.
The Patrol’s preliminary investigation shows that Bauer had stopped about 4 pm at the intersection of Hwy 83 and 277th Street, then turned left onto the highway.
Ferguson, who was northbound on Hwy 83, struck the trailer of Bauer’s truck, causing both the trailer and tractor to roll over.
Ferguson was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene. Bauer was wearing a seat belt and was not hurt.
Interestingly enough, a South Dakota story is published yet a man was struck by a car in Alliance the morning of Saturday, September 23, 2023 and nothing is written about this accident. The man was on the sidewalk when struck by a car. The man passed away Thursday, October 5, 2023, from injuries sustained in this terrifying incident. The Alliance Police Department removed the driver’s license of the driver, but has this stopped her from driving? The driver has been seen driving and reported. Will there be any consequences for this person who killed a man? Will the driver be allowed to drive illegally until more fatalities occur?
