Funeral services for 87-year old Rodney Tiensvold are Friday, Sept 29, 2023, at 9 am at the United Methodist Church in Fort Morgan, CO.

Graveside services will follow at 3:00 at the Fairview Cemetery in Rushville, NE.

Rodney Byard Tiensvold was born September 6, 1936, to Ella Mae and Odin Tiensvold in Rushville and entered into eternal life on September 25, 2023, in Gordon, NE.

Being the 5th of 6 children, he quickly learned how to work on the homestead.

On July 23, 1956, Rodney married the love of his life, Shirley Mae Throne. They welcomed their first child together, Gary Auther, in 1957. In 1961 they welcomed their daughter Pammy Jean. As a family, they enjoyed traveling and camping.

Rodney entered into the U-S Army in 1954 and was honorably discharged in 1956. He was a lifelong member of the Elks Lodge, where made lifelong friends who enjoyed playing cards together. 

Rodney provided a beautiful life as a professional truck driver who hauled cattle, beer, and liquid feed. Rodney retired from Midwest PMS in 2005 after dedicating 42 years to the company.

His love for his wife, children, 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren was unconditional. Rodney had the best sense of humor and always made people laugh.

Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Dorothy Moser, his brothers Clearance, Richard and Orville, his granddaughter Wendy Ann Tiensvold, and great-granddaughter Reaghan Elizabeth Graham.

Rodney is survived by Shirley Mae, his wife of 67 years; sister Diane Dohrman; son Gary (Deb) Tiensvold; and daughter Pam (Tyler) Schiel; grandchildren Tim (Emily) Tiensvold, Dennis Tiensvold, Kristen (Tom) Zeller, Bridget Tiensvold, Brandon (Danielle) Schiel, Brett (Jennifer) Schiel, and Brittney (Mitch) Weimer; great-grandchildren Karson Schiel, Vaughn, Creed and Tripp Weimer, Braylon and Deacon Schiel, Ryder Schiel, Margo, Neva, Holden and Henry (Hank) Tiensvold, Eli and Ezra Zeller. Tiana, Gabriel and Adalyn Lind, and several nieces and nephews.

Although he is gone from our sight, he will forever be in our hearts.
