The public business meeting with the hearings is Friday
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is meeting this week at Fort Robinson State Park in the Buffalo Soldiers Barracks.
There are closed-door sessions Thursday morning with a Public Information Meeting at noon.
The noon agenda includes a Scorecard for Strategic Planning activities, a review session on Big Goals, a possible meeting schedule for next year, an update and recap of Turkey season, a report on the Farm Bill, Noteworthy items since the August meeting, and committee reports.
The Game and Parks Commission business session, which is open to the public, has an agenda that includes a public hearing on proposed fee increases for more non-resident big game permits. The meeting begins at 8:00 with the hearing on the fee increases at 8:15.
Game and Parks staff says the increases are needed to help offset the revenue loss from reducing the number of nonresident deer, antelope, and turkey permits offered. Basic non-resident deer permits would be $332, turkey $114, and antelope $232
The Commissioners also will hold a public hearing on proposed changes to sportfishing rules including daily bag and possession limits, maximum length, and open areas for multiple species.
Game and Parks staff will give updates on a major antelope research project and on operations at Fort Robinson as well as an overview of happenings in the Northwest Region, which includes all 11 Panhandle counties and Keith County.
