District cross country meets were held yesterday, a day earlier than scheduled, due to forecasted weather and seven area runners have clinched spots at next week’s state meet in Kearney. The top 15 individuals and top three teams are automatic qualifiers
The Chadron girls will send three to state, led by Lillie Uhing who placed 11th with a time of 21:50. Jentsyn Fuller was 9-seconds back in 12th place and Grace Pyle grabbed 14th with a 22:27 at the C-5 district meet in Ogallala.
The Cardinals missed a team qualifying spot by six points, finishing 4th behind Broken Bow’s 52.
Gordon-Rushville will send a pair of girls and a boy from the D-6 meet in Grant.
Tyrah American Horse took 6th in the girls race with a 22:28 and Rylie Barker was 15th with a time of 23:04.
On the boys side, Luke Laws was the only Mustang qualifier taking 9th with an 18:34. Hay Springs’ Parker Wellnitz is off to state after placing 11th with an 18:51.
State is next Friday at Kearney Country Club
