Chadron Falls To A-G, Hay Springs Rolls To Playoff Win

Ashland-Greenwood returned the opening kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown and set the tone for a 53-14 win over Chadron in the first round of the C1 playoffs on Friday afternoon.

Chadron struggled on both sides of the ball in the first half as the Bluejays jumped out to a 39-0 lead at the break.

The Cardinals would bounce back in the 2nd half when Quinn Bailey punched in his first touchdown of the day from just a yard out as time expired in the 3rd.

With Ashland-Greenwood leading 53-7 in the 4th, Bailey would break through the defense and sprint 66 yards for Chadron’s other score of the night.

Chadron will finish the season 6-4 while A-G advances to play either Adams Central Aurora.

Hay Springs rolled to an opening round win over Hampton 66-26 in the D6 playoffs at home on Friday.

The Hawks will travel to Arthur County for a rematch of a week three loss next Friday.

Sioux County saw their season end after making the longest trip of the postseason, falling 55-22 to Pawnee City.
