      While yesterday was the official Thanksgiving Day holiday, today is also a day off for most government workers.
Some have it built into law while others have done it through contract negotiations.
      In Nebraska, state and county workers by law have the day off because federal employees do, too. Cities aren’t required to follow suit, but the vast majority do because so many workers didn’t want to come back for just 1 day after Thanksgiving.
Chadron is among those that does give employees the day off, so not only are city hall and the public library closed, Chadron City Transit isn’t running today.
There are a few exceptions to the holiday. The biggest is that post offices are open and there is mail delivery.
