The Chadron State College music department holds its free annual Holiday Concert tonight at 7:00 in the Memorial Hall Auditorium
The Concert Choir and the combined Wind Symphony/ Community Band will perform separately then join together to lead the audience in several Christmas carols.
     The Memorial Hall Main Gallery will be open before and after the concert for viewing of the Universe Unfolding show by artist and Western Nebraska Community College art instructor Yelena KhanevskayaÂ
Khanevskaya says she was inspired to create the Universe Unfolding from conversations with her friends about self-perception and body image.
She wants it to portray the idea that each one of us is a universe, ready to burst at the right prompt, with energy, love, and knowledge.
It’s based on her own body, but she says she made the gender somewhat obscure on purpose, hoping to express that this notion is present in anyone and everyone.
While the Universe Unfolding is the centerpiece, the show also includes Creative Agony, an acrylic painting, the painting Devil in Blue Dress and the mixed media collage, Gaea Creating Herself.
