Funeral services for 56-year old Renee Joeckel are Sunday, Dec 17, 2023 at 11:00 at the Inestimable Gift Episcopal Church in Allen, SD, with Mother Michelle Dayton officiating and traditional Lakota services by Alvin Iron Cloud and Darla Black

Burial is at the Inestimable Gift Episcopal Cemetery in Allen

A one-night wake service starts Sat at noon at the Inestimable Gift Episcopal Church near Allen.

Renee Jane Joeckel “Ĥaŋté Wiŋ” was born on Oct 11, 1967 in Pine Ridge, SD to Kenneth Standing Soldier and Ora Jane DuBray-Peters.  Renee made her journey to the Spirit World on Dec 5, 2023 in Denver, CO.

Renee is survived by her father Kenneth Standing Soldier; sons Andrew (Amparing) Joeckel, Alex (Christina) Joeckel, and Adam (Leah) Joeckel; sisters Mary Woodard, Judy Zuniga, Betty Peters, and Annette Peters; brothers Will (Lena) Peters and Donny (Sandra) Peters; grandchildren Jacan Joeckel, Loki Joeckel, LaShaya Renee Joeckel, and Baby Andrew Joeckel; aunt Marcella Iron Cloud; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.   

Renee was preceded in death by her mother Ora Jane (DuBray) Peters; brother Richard Peters; sister Amelia Peters; grandson Adam Joeckel Jr; brothers-in-law David Arguello and Bob Woodard; nephews Justin Peters and Dominic Deolles; and nieces Ohinniyan Wicahpi Peters and Kerry Lynn Peters.  

Pallbearers will be Derek Young, Vincent Peters, Jimmy Wayne Peters, Cornell Ruff Jr, Warlance Ruff, Anthony Peters, Jesse Lee Peters, and Danny James Peters.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jacan Joeckel, Loki Joeckel, LaShaya Renee Joeckel, Baby Andrew Joeckel, Craig Joeckel, Merlyn Hatcher, All Nieces, Nephews, Grandchildren, and Great Grandchildren, and All Friends & Relatives.
