The Chadron High girls and boys basketball teams were both on the wrong ends of blowouts at Scottsbluff on Thursday night.
The Chadron girls trimmed a double digit 2nd quarter deficit down to nine at the half, but only managed 10 points over the final two quarters in a 55-30 loss.
Demi Ferguson led Chadron with 8 points. Paige Horne had 22 for Scottsbluff. The Lady Cards are now 2-5 on the season.
The Scottsbluff boys exploded for 13 three pointers in a 79-38 over Chadron. It was just a four point Bearcat lead after a quarter, but Scottsbluff finished the game by outscoring Chadron 29-5 in the 4th quarter.
Trey Hendrickson carried Chadron with 10 points. Rylee Meininger had 18 to power Scottsbluff. Chadron is now 4-3 on the season heading into the holiday break.
Both Chadron squads return to action next Friday in the George Watson Rotary Classic where they will open with Valentine. Custer and Hemingford make up the other side of the bracket.
