Despite closing the campus because of the Wind Chill Warning issued by the National Weather Service, Chadron State is still hosting basketball games tonight – just a little earlier than scheduled.
Sports Information Director John Murphy says the Chadron State men’s and women’s games against Colorado Mesa have been moved to start one hour earlier.
Instead of tipping off at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m., the women’s game will begin at 4:30 and the men will tip off at 6:30 p.m.
Tomorrows games against Westminster are still scheduled for their original start times, beginning with the women at 5:30.
The CSC women are 4-7 overall and 2-5 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference while Eagle men are 8-5 and 5-2.
Both Colorado Mesa teams are coming to town riding high. The men are 11-2 overall and 7-0 in the RMAC while the women are 11-3 and 5-2.
The Lady Mavs are led by 6-0 sophomore Olivia Reed, who spent her first two years of high school in Chadron while her father, Houston Reed, was the CSC men’s basketball coach.
She was last year’s RMAC Women’s Freshman of the Year and is leading Mesa at 16.9 points and 11.4 rebounds a game while shooting 59.4$ from the field. Reed was the DII National Player of the Week in November.
