Ronald Eugene “Ron” Meradith was born on May 23, 1951 in Alliance to Dean and Dorothy (Hamaker) Meradith of Hemingford. He passed away Friday, January 5, 2024 at his home in Alliance with his family by his side.

On June 10, 1978, Ron was united in marriage to Yolanda M. Garcia in Hemingford. They were blessed with two children: Kyle and Amanda Meradith.

After graduating from Hemingford High School, he enrolled at Chadron State College but transferred after one year to a tech school in Sidney, NE, where he went on to graduate with a degree in diesel mechanics.

Ron then returned to Box Butte County and began working at Farmer’s Implement in Alliance. Though he enjoyed working in mechanics, his true calling was farming so he went to work for Kenny Luce and later Bill Koester and Vogel’s farming and raising cattle.

When he retired from full-time farming, Ron continued part-time with Randy Benda and Western Potato. About the only time you could get him off a tractor was to spend time with his granddaughters.

That covered activities from going on drives with Leighton to sitting and watching cartoons with Addisyn and Bristyn, whom he dearly loved and enjoyed.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents Dean and Dorothy Meradith, sister-in-law Rosemarie Meradith, mother-in-law Juanita Garcia, sister-in-law Rosa Garcia, and three brothers-in-law.

Ron is survived by his wife Yolanda; son Kyle Meradith and fiancé’ Sarah Hicks of Alliance; daughter Amanda Meradith of Lincoln; granddaughters Leighton Meradith of Lincoln, and Addisyn Meradith and Bristyn Meradith of Alliance; step-grandchildren Copper Hicks, Breleigh Hicks, Emma Hicks of Alliance; brother Gary Meradith of Chadron; and nieces and nephews.
