The Chadron boys blocked a pair of late Gering attempts in overtime to hold on for a 78-75 win over the Bulldogs on Friday night.
Chadron overcame a three point halftime deficit in a game that saw 24 combined made three pointers and 47 free throw attempts
Four Cardinals reached double figures, led by 23 from Brady Daniels. Broc Berry had 18, Gage Wild scored 15 and Thomas Smith had 12.
The Chadron girls rallied from an eight point halftime deficit to take a 46-44 4th quarter lead only to stumble against Gering 59-51.
With a chance to tie the game at 50, a Taverra Sayaloune layup popped in and out of the cylinder and Gering’s Naveah Hrasky came right down and knocked down a three to make it a five point game. The game never got any closer than four the rest of the way.
Sayaloune finished as the only Cardinal in double figures with a game high 22 points.
