Top CSC Seniors Recognized At Ivy Day

Loading

Creighton Harrington, Bryan Zutavern

Outstanding graduating seniors were honored at Chadron State College Friday night at Ivy Day, a tradition at the school since 1920 and now sponsored by the Blue Key and Cardinal Key national honor societies.

Ivy Day has evolved over the years and now recognizes seniors for graduating with honors, being the tops in their academic department, or winning specific awards.

Ivy Day royalty is elected each year by the student body. This year’s King is Cooper Reichman of Dalton, NE with Kayla Brown of Glendive, MT, the Queen.

The King’s attendants are Cordell Farmer of Kit Carson, CO, Harrison Goeke of York, NE., Seth Studnicka of Sidney, NE., and Minh Duc Le of Saigon, Vietnam.

The Queen’s attendants are Jaylee Shaw of Sidney, NE, Quinn Koop of Madrid, Ne, Carlee Brownawell of Hershey, Ne, and Grace Redinger of Hastings, Ne. Junior attendants to the queen candidates were Ella Redden and Vivian Ritzen, daughters of CSC employees.

Two members of the royalty were also the Cardinal Key and Blue Key orators: Quinn Koop and Seth Studnicka, while the faculty greeter was retiring Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Jim Powell.

The highest honor a Chadron State College student can receive is the Platinum Eagle Award recognizing distinguished leadership and service, It is presented each year to one male and one female student.

This year’s Platinum Eagle recipients were Creighton Harrington of Loup City, NE, and Bryan Zutavern of Dunning, NE. Runners-up were Cade Stephenson of Alliance, NE, and Katelyn Bach of Burns, Wyo.
