Burial is at the Black Elk Family Cemetery in Oglala

Julia Black Elk was born on Sept 16, 1961 in Pine Ridge, SD to Howard DeWitt and Bessie Chips. She made her journey to the Spirit World on June 2, 2024 at the Good Samaritan Center in Sioux Falls, SD.
Julia is survived by her siblings Luke Black Elk Jr, Ivis Black Elk, Iris Black Elk, Lucille Stewart, Marjorie Black Elk, Nathan Black Elk, and Mike Black Elk; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Julia was preceded in death by her biological father Howard DeWitt; her mother Bessie Chips; father Luke Black Elk Sr; siblings Malcolm Black Elk, Alvina Black Elk, Francine Tobacco, Betty Black Elk, Dawson Black Elk, and Gilbert Black Elk.
Pallbearers will be Kristian Black Elk, Jake Two Bulls, Jonathan Black Elk, Travis Pulliam, Jonathan Shane Black Elk, and Farrell Red Cloud.
Honorary pallbearers will be all family, relatives, & friends.
