Our latest winter storm has brought a mixed bag when it comes to closures. Government offices and most businesses are open today, but some schools are open and some are closed.
Chadron, Crawford, and Hemingford are all closed because of the weather, but Gordon-Rushville and Sioux County are open – although Sioux County has an early release. Hay Springs has no school because it operates on a full-time 4-day week
      All area high schools have canceled all sports and other activities until Monday.
Chadron State College has called off classes and is closing its campus today, but the residence halls and dining services are open for students living on campus and there are still men’s and women’s home basketball games this weekend.
The Eagles are hosting Colorado Mesa tonight but an hour earlier than scheduled with the women’s game starting at 4:30. Tomorrow’s games against Westminster have the usual 5:30 and 7:30 starts.
The Chadron Sharks swim team has canceled its first-ever home meet, which had been scheduled for tomorrow and Sunday in the Chadron Area Aquatics and Wellness Center.
