Aaron Wright Sr

Funeral services for 65-year old Aaron Wright Sr are Thurs, Dec 17, 2020 at 11:00 AM at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Rapid City, SD, with Pastor Henrique Fleming officiating.

Burial services follow at 12:30 PM at the Mountain View Cemetery in Rapid City.

Visitation precedes the funeral from 9:00 – 11:00 AM, also at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Rapid City.

Aaron Wayne Wright, Sr. was born on August 25, 1955 in Rapid City, SD, he was one of ten children to Theodore E. Wright, Sr. and Mary O. (Fire Thunder) Wright.  Aaron made his journey to the Spirit World on December 2, 2020 at the University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis, MN.  

Aaron was a lifelong resident of Rapid City and had exemplified a strong faith in Jesus.  Aaron gladly took the time to spread the word of God to anyone and everyone that he met.  

He enjoyed family gatherings and always greeted people with a warm smile on his face and if lucky, a good joke.  He made it known that he took pleasure in the simple things in life, such as sunrises and sunsets, the smell of rain or being in the presence of family and friends and a good meal.

Aaron loved music and his favorite artists included Elton John, Billy Joel, Sade’, Dan Fogleburg and Dua Lipa.  Aaron played the acoustic guitar and mastered many songs such as “Leader of the Band” by Dan Fogleburg.  

His other love was sports, and he was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was very active in high school athletics where he played varsity basketball for the Stevens Raiders and football at North Junior high from 1969 to 1970. 

Aaron was proud of his family especially his grandchildren, his love, compassion, faith and kindness knew no bounds and will be missed by so many.

Aaron was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Fire Thunder- Wright and Theodore Wright Sr., his brother Michael Wright; grandson, Gavyn Wright; and wife, Stacy Wright. 

Aaron is survived by his four children, Lonnie Wright, of New Town, ND, Aaron Wright, Jr. and Megan Wright both of Rapid City, SD, and Amber Cheney of Minnesota; sisters, Linda DiCesare of Florida, Gloria, Patricia and Angela Wright all of Rapid City, SD, and Crystal Wright of Irving Texas; three brothers, Alexander, Theodore Jr., and Orrin (Jennifer) Wright all of Rapid City, SD; and his five grandchildren, Cetan, Haidyn, Celia, Orah, and Robert; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be Orrin Wright, Theodore Wright, Jr., Aaron Wright, Jr., Alvin Returns, Lester Larvie, Lonnie Wright, and Charlie Vermillion.

Honorary pallbearers will be all Relatives & Friends.
