The Chadron State College volleyball team opens up RMAC play this weekend at home. They welcome Adams State (3-6, 0-1) on Friday at 6 p.m., and New Mexico Highlands (3-6, 0-1) on Saturday at 6 p.m. at Chicoine Center both days.
The Eagles are coming off a big weekend of tournament play where they went 1-3, which pushed their season record to (2-6, 0-0). Their most recent match was a loss to #5 ranked Wayne State.
The Eagles are looking to improve offensively as their hitting percentage is .130. True Freshman Bella Adams leads the Eagles in total kills with 54, (.278) so far this season, but she is getting help from junior Lexi Hurtado who has 51 (.100) herself.
Adams State will most likely look to Riley Rabedeaux who leads the team with 100 total kills, but has .191 hitting percentage on the season. The Grizzlies have a team hitting percentage of .181.
The Eagles defense has been led by junior Rylee Greiman with 88 digs, and senior Abby Schaefer with 87, while sophomore Aiyana Fujiyama, Bella Adams, and sophomore Mayson Fago lead the team in blocks, 19, 18, 17 respectively.
The Eagles have won their last 2 out the last three matches against ASU.
The Eagles defense might have an easier time against the attacks of New Mexico Highlands who has .128 hitting percentage as a team. Keegan Lopez leads the Cowgirls with 83 kills, and .288 on the season.
The Cowgirls hit .201 during their last match on Tuesday against Fort Lewis, which was their best on the season. The Eagles are coming off their worst performance with a .039 hitting percentage.
