All Area Schools And CSC Back To Class Today, But With Late Starts

Loading

It’s almost, but not quite, back to normal today for area schools that have been closed since Thursday or Friday because of the extreme cold.

All the public schools along Hwy 20 from Lusk to Gordon as well as Alliance and Hemingford are resuming classes today, but with late starts of either 2 hours or 10:00.

Chadron State College, which closed its campus both Friday and yesterday, is also reopening today with a late start of 9:30.

The college is encouraging students and employees to exercise caution when traveling to school or work today, and to let their instructors or supervisors know if poor driving conditions will make them late or keep them from coming in.

CSC officials, who are continuing to monitor the weather, say they appreciate the dedication of the employees who help maintain essential functions for on-campus students, faculty, and staff, but especially at times like these.

They specifically extended a message of thanks to Campus Security, Dining Services, Maintenance and Custodial, and Student Affairs for their dedication, service, and hard work to ensure the wellbeing and safety of others.
