Alliance Homeowner Kills Home Invasion Intruder; Charges Not Recommended

Loading

An Alliance homeowner fought back in a home invasion early this morning, shooting and killing the lone intruder.

Police Chief David Leavitt says no charges are being recommended at this time against James Haller in the death of Jerome Robb.

Chief Leavitt says Haller called dispatchers at 2:24 am and told them he’d shot an intruder who forcibly entered his home. When officers arrived, they found Robb dead with a single gunshot wound to the head.

Leavitt says Robb has a history of burglary and that evidence at the scene was consistent with Haller’s description of what happened.

Box Butte County Attorney and Coroner Marissa Curtiss ordered an autopsy of Robb’s body, which is routine in such cases.

Chief Leavitt says the investigation is ongoing and that the final report will be reviewed by Curtiss, who has the final say on whether any charges are filed – but Leavitt isn’t recommending any charges at this time.
