Visitation for 36-year old Anber Pourier is Wed, Jan 5, 2022 from 1-5:00 at the Sioux Funeral Home in Pine Ridge, SD.

Cremation will follow the service with burial to be held at a later date.

Amber Terri Pourier  “Mni Wozan Win” ~ Gentle Rain Woman ~ was born on September 29, 1985, in Pine Ridge, SD to Theodore Paul Pourier, Jr. and Sheryl Yellow Shield. Amber made her journey to the Spirit World on January 2, 2022, at the Monument Health Home Plus Hospice in Rapid City, SD.

Amber spent her childhood in Wounded Knee, SD. She was fortunate to receive her Lakota name, “Mni Wozan Win.” at a young age from her uncle Alex White Plume. She attended Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School and from there, went on to graduate the 8th grade from the Porcupine Day School. 

Amber also attended Crow Creek and Pine Ridge High School, from which she met the father of her children, Frank Brave and began her journey into motherhood. She went on to further her education by enrolling in the Job Corps in Chadron, NE. No matter where she was or what she was doing, she always made new friends.

Amber was known as a “Daddy’s Girl”. She loved everyone’s children, especially her own. There were a lot of special people in her life including her uncle Percy White Plume, her second mom Sharon Condon & Family, her Godmother & great-grandmother Maggie, and her Godfather, Hoss Pourier.

Amber is survived by her parents, Sheryl Yellow Shield and Ted Pourier Jr; 3 siblings, Jaimie Pourier, Sarah Pourier and Theodore Pourier III; her 7 children, Jesse, Jace, Jayden, Jacolby, Tara, Jazmine, and Jemma; and her grandson, Luca Brasi Brave-Hughes.

Amber was preceded in death by her baby sister, Julia Dawn Pourier; maternal grandparents, Dallas Little Bear & Roselyn Thunder Horse; paternal grandparents, Theodore Paul, Sr. & Lorraine (Sunbear) Pourier; aunt, Lori Pourier; uncle, Clifford Pourier, Sr., Eric Pourier, Glen Little Bear and Timothy Romero; cousins, Shilo and Mercedes Pourier; and great grandfather, Gene Pourier.

Pallbearers will be Jesse Brave, Jace Brave, Jayden Brave, Jacolby Brave, Ted Pourier III, Marty Pourier, Colyn Condon, Alex Condon, Travis Mesteth Sr., and Alan Wounded Foot.

Honorary pallbearers will be Grandma Georgia Pourier, nieces-Abeisha, Aryla, & Paityn; nephews-Travis Jr., Tirrel, & Sincere; Rhea Pourier & Family, Tedine Pourier & Family, Michelle Red Owl & Family, Sharon Condon & Family, Erna Yellow Shield & Family, Mary Palmier & Family, Frank Brave & Family, Jessica Helper & Family, Michaela Dodge & Family, Sherri High Hawk & Family, Cocoa John Tibbitts, Tony Tibbitts, Pierre Pourier, Flint Tall Sr., Garrett Little, Bobby Iron Cloud, Daniel Bear Runner, All Bigfoot Riders-Past & Present, and all friends & relatives.
