Ambrose โ€œRichardโ€ Horse was born on June 29, 1968 in Pine Ridge, SD to Martha Yellow Bull and Henry โ€œTexโ€ Horse.  Ambrose โ€œRichardโ€ made his journey to the Spirit World on August 26, 2024 at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD.

Ambrose โ€œRichardโ€ Horse attended Head Start at Porcupine Head Start and k-8th at Porcupine School.  His favorite teacher was the late Ruth Weston.  He went to Little Wound High School all four years and attended Job Corps at Clearfield, UT.  Richard obtained his trade in Autobody and Carpentry and completed his two year certification.  He was a runner for the Sacred Hoop 500 Mile Run and was a boxer for the Porcupine Boxing Club, but his passion was for running.  Richard took part in the Wounded Knee Memorial Ride with his late uncle, Curtis Kills Ree.  Richard was also a Sundancer, he did four years at Two Dogs Sundance and he was the youngest Sundancer alongside his buddy, Dave Clifford, Jr. who was also 13 years old.  Richard played in the movie, Lakota Woman as a Crow Scout, he worked many places such as Golden Corral, etc., and was a handyman for an elderly lady in Rapid City.  Richard even worked on his sister Maryโ€™s roof in Porcupine Butte.  He was a man of many talents, such as a quill artist, he had a very unique way of doing his quillwork.  His siblings, family, friends, and many others will surely miss him and be missed dearly by everyone in his family.

Ambrose โ€œRichardโ€ Horse was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Yellow Bull; father, Henry โ€œTexโ€ Horse; paternal grandfathers, Noah Horse, Henry Horse, Sr., and Charles Kills Ree; uncles, Curtis Kills Ree, Patrick Kills Ree, Theodore Kills Ree, Gary Kills Ree; aunts, Josephine Old Shield, Jessie Horse, Esther Yellow Bull, Lena Spotted Crow, and Cecilia Horse-Parker; cousins, Ronnie Horse, Sr., Jerry Horse, Sr., Hobert Horse, Sr., Albert Abraham Yellow Bull, and Maurice Dean Yellow Bull; nephews, Dion Horse, Douglas Horse, Devron Horse; niece, Sherry Bonita Horse; grandson, Waverly Chief, Jr.,; and granddaughter, Nyvelle Stone Quick Bear.

Wake Services:ย  Two night wake service starting at 4:00 PM, Thursday, September 12, 2024 at the Porcupine School Gym in Porcupine, SD with NAC Devotion being held at 9:00 PM on Thursday and evening services starting at 7:00 PM each night.
