A Mass of Christian Burial for 80-year old Anita Jo Ecoffey will be held Monday, September 4, 2023 at 11:00 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Ridge, SD, Deacon Bill White officiating and traditional Lakota services by Darla Black
Burial is at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Wounded Knee, SD
Visitation is Sunday, Sept 3, from 4-10:00 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Ridge with evening services at 6:00.
Anita Jo Ecoffey “Makizita Wi” was born on October 3, 1942 in Pine Ridge, SD to Joseph Lee Clifford Sr and Thelma Mae (Garcia) Clifford. Anita made her journey to the Spirit World on August 28, 2023 at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
Anita is survived by children Richard “George” Ecoffey, Carmen Maria Ecoffey, Tonia (Vincent) Ecoffey, Mary Ellen Red Shirt, Marjorie (Frank) Murdock, Robert “Little Bob” (Kamook) Ecoffey, and Roberta Ecoffey; sisters Theresa Perkins and Mary Wilson; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, & nephews.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents Joseph & Thelma Clifford; her husband of 54 years Frank “Bob” Ecoffey; son Monte Philip Ecoffey; siblings Esther Clifford, Philomena Clifford, Mark Clifford Sr, Darlene “Dodo” Clifford, Clifton “Jock” Clifford, Gloria Pettigrew, Dorothy Lafferty, Philip Clifford Sr, Patrick “Tom” Clifford, and Joseph “Buzz” Clifford; godson Robert Clifford; and numerous nieces & nephews.
Pallbearers will be Kyle Ecoffey, Jesse Ray Brewer, Patrick “Tommy” Clifford, Demitre Ecoffey, Steven Wilson Jr, Stryker Clifford, Leroy Janis, and John Pettigrew.
Honorary pallbearers will be all friends & relatives.
