Crawford Volunteer Fire Department was called into action once again around 3 in the afternoon Thursday to respond to the Hemi Fire on Sawlog Road 10 southwest of Crawford.
According to an update posted by Crawford Fire, crews worked hard and fast to get a dozer line around the fire perimeter and keep forward progress held in the original footprint.
Crawford Fire stated that this fire will be putting up smoke for the next several days and will continue to be monitored for hot spots and extensions.
According to Great Plains Dispatch, the cause is unknown at this time and it is currently sized at roughly 10 acres. Crawford has been assisted by local and federal resources, including the US Forest Service, Game and Parks, and Chadron Fire Department.
