A trio of area wrestlers brought home 5th place medals on Saturday from the NSAA state championships in Omaha.
Chadron FreshmanTaylee Williamson put in a full days work by starting off with a pin over Kyra Skiles of Ogallala in 3:41 in the 107-lb 2nd round of consolations to advance to the medal rounds. Williamson would drop her consolation semifinal to Lacy Lemburg of Columbus Lakeview by a 2-1 decision to fall into the 5/6th place match.
Williamson would rebound with a 5-2 win over Lily Gomez of Red Cloud/Blue Hill to capture 5th.
Quinn Bailey of Chadron dropped his consolation semifinal match at Class B 145-lbs to Drew Moser of Waverly in a 4-0 to slide into the 5/6th place match but capped the season in a big way with a pin of Jayden Coulter of Pierce in 3:30 to end his Freshman season.
Crawford’s Kolby Welling bounced back from a consolation semi loss to Sean Duffy of Kenesaw to take down Julien Grindle of Cambridge by pin in 2:39 for a 5th place finish in Class D at 182-lbs.
