Chadron police have arrested a suspect in the Wednesday night burglary of a CDB shop near downtown Chadron.

20-year-old Sylvanus Lame Jr was taken into custody Friday after a day and a half of investigation.

He’s being held in the Dawes County Jail on one count of felony burglary and misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief and theft by exercising control.

The burglary occurred around 10:45 Wednesday night with entry gained by breaking the glass in the front door at Homer’s Eagles Roost.

Chadron Police Officer Sam Cafferty says police used surveillance video from Homer’s Eagles Roost on East 3rd Street, still photos, and statements from several witnesses to identify Lame as a suspect.

Chadron police had released still photos from surveillance video and asked the public for help in identifying the man in them.

Cafferty, who made the initial response along with Officer Christine Hanson, says the Chadron Police Department wants to thank everyone who called in with information on the case.

He says the public’s assistance played a vital role in identifying Lame as the suspect and making an arrest, adding that the investigation is still continuing and evidence is still being processed.

Cafferty encourages anyone with any information on the case to contact the Chadron Police Department at the Chadron Communications Center at 308-432-0510.
