Rain overnight Saturday into Sunday allowed firefighters to get the upper hand on the Ash Pole Fire. The Nebraska National Forests and Grasslands Facebook page reported Sunday that the fire is now 90% contained.
The weekend has seen great progress towards containment of the blaze as despite concerns of growth throughout the day Saturday fire managers were able to transition the fire from a type three incident to a type four incident.
The expected rain moved over the area Saturday night into Sunday allowing containment percentages to rise to 90% with fire managers feeling good about progress.
More precipitation is expected throughout the overnight hours of Sunday into the day on Monday with high temperatures struggling to reach 50.
