Firefighters continue to gain ground on the Ash Pole Fire nine miles southeast of Crawford. Firefighters overnight Friday into Saturday were able to get containment up to 59% with crews making progress through monitoring and mop up according to Nebraska National Forests and Grasslands Facebook page.
There is some concern with the weather as temperatures Saturday got into the 80s with low relative humidity.
Showers and thunderstorm activity is expected to pick up throughout the region come Saturday evening with a Sunday expected to see temperatures in the upper 60s with more rain expected late Sunday afternoon through Monday night.
