Dawes County Attorney/Coroner Vance Haug has ordered an autopsy to try to determine the cause of a death of a Chadron teenager on Monday.
Haug says foul play is not suspected in the death of the 19-year old and that its not unusual for him to order an autopsy when the cause of an unattended death isn’t clear.
The teen was unresponsive when found by family members in their home about 8:00 Monday evening.Â
The Chadron Rescue Unit and Chadron police both responded, but efforts to resuscitate the teen were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Haug, called to the home by the police department, says after evidence was gathered, the scene examined, and witnesses interviewed his review of all the facts gathered by the investigation led to his determination to order the autopsy.
The investigation is continuing and Haug encourages anyone who has information that might be relevant to contact the Chadron Police Department.
